Berta Walker Gallery presents a myriad selection of Folk Art and Art Crafts created by personalities of the Lower Cape
Berta Walker Gallerys 19th season of exhibitions will stimulate, educate, and excite the visitor. The season is filled with a variety of not-to-be-missed Provincetown-affiliated group and one-person shows, ranging from early Provincetown Masters Lazzell, Weinrich, and Hartley, to Contemporary painters, sculptors and folk artists.
Launching the season will be Cape Folk, an exhibition to include debuts for blind artist Janice Frishkopf, and art pottery by Gertrude Graham Smith. Also included will be the Cape tradition of painted furniture by Peter Hunt and Nancy Whorf, fun and fantasy iron mobiles & animals by local Father/Son boat builders, Clarence and Michael Kacergis; intricately painted dancing sculptures by Danielle Mailer, paintings by Provincetowns own Phyllis & Izzy Sklar, (now in their 80s and residents of Provincetown for over 50 years); the sought-after paintings of Dr. Hyman Shrand, Nancy Nicoles Educated Cats mixed-media sculpture and Jim Mannings birdhouses. Tapestries by Agnes Weinrich, and surprise folk paintings on board by Paul Resika, Nancy Craig, and Sky Power will complete this fascinating exhibition(May 23 - June 15).
